Top 10 Most Played, Monday, 7/13/09
It's Monday again! Time for me to post the 10 songs I listened to most from the week before along with notes about some of them. You can reply by commenting on my listening choices or by listing your own 10 most-played songs. Hopefully, we will discover new music and start some interesting discussions through this. :)
[Song/Artist/Composer/Album or Source]
01. Panic Switch—Silversun Pickups—Swoon
[This group has become one I'm watching fairly closely. They're still pretty new, so I'm curious to see how they develop. At the moment, I like their sound quite a bit, but I think their lyrics could improve some.]
02. Escape—Enrique Iglesias—Escape
[I know some people call this a "stalker song", but to me, it's a song of true, deep, passionate love that won't ever give up, no matter what.]
03. Marco Polo—Loreena McKennitt—The Book of Secrets
04. Stand By Me (Live)—U2—ZooTV tour (Stockholm)
[U2 played this to close their show. Bono started it off; then exited stage and Edge finished singing it, so it's a neat opportunity to enjoy the guitarist's voice singing solo. ;)]
05. Tiny Little Robots—Cage the Elephant—Cage the Elephant
[Another new group I'm watching closely. This song is a cry for something more than the daily grind. I know that you're tired of this/'Cause you're a robot/They designed your life/But true souls said you know what's right/And you can join us on the other side... I like it. :)]
06. Something to Believe In—Poison
[I heard this for the first time while channel surfing a couple days ago. It was on our local pop/hip hop/r&b station, of all things. Anyhoo, it's become a new favourite. The lines stuck in my head are: Sometimes I wish I didn't know now/The things I didn't know then/And give me something to believe in...]
07. Gotta Serve Somebody—Bob Dylan—The Best of Bob Dylan
[Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord/But you're gonna have to serve somebody... Amen.]
08. I'll Believe You When—Matchbox Twenty—Exile On Mainstream
09. Last Night On Earth—U2—Pop
10. The Investigation—Hollywood Studio Symphony—John Powell—The Bourne Identity Soundtrack
